Our Experience

Lochinver Larder is famous for its pies—so famous, in fact, you can even get them delivered by post. It’s clearly a bit of an institution. But I’ll be honest: I’m not really a pie or pastry person, so most of the menu doesn’t hugely appeal to me.

Fortunately, they do offer other options, and the soup is always a reliable (and more budget-friendly) choice. On one visit, we had the Cullen skink and it was outstanding (no doubt thanks to the generous amount of cream employed). It’s the one thing we return for… when it’s on the menu, which sadly isn’t always.

The space is bright and airy with big windows, making it a nice place to stop and refuel. But it’s not cheap, and unless you’re a pie enthusiast, you might not find it the most exciting place to eat (on our last visit we noted they had no vegan options). Still, it’s worth knowing about—especially if you fancy a proper sit-down lunch in Lochinver.
